Hi all,
I am a first year BSW student. I'm looking to secure an (unpaid) internship to double as both required volunteer hours and as an effort to become involved in the social work profession now! I find myself in need of a resume but I have several questions. 1. Are classes I took in high school relating to social work relivant?
2. Are my fastfood (etc) jobs importaint to list. 3. Are my technical qualifications (work with computers etc..) list-worthy? If anyone has examples of social service resumes on the web, or wants to put in there two cents here please do.
Hi, Tyler
When applying for any job you should only list past employment history that applies to that specific job. On your resume under other qualifications or expereince you can list course work. But I think high school courses will not count because they are not on the college level. But you can put computer training you have had. That is always a plus. if you have anymore questions, email me at society55@hotmail.com. I am a second year MSW student
Tyler... i would go with a skill based resume in your case. There are skills you have earned from your fastt food that are important, ie team work, etc. I would also list any courses that are relevent if they are beyond the average... ie culture studies etc. also lsit your tech abilities.
from this website http://www.works.state.mo.us/jobsrch/sbrtips.htm

Tyler,
You might also try checking with the career placement center at your college/university. They probably can give you some sample resumes to look at, as well as advise you on writing your own.
