Why is that we as upcoming socail workers have to do papers that cover everything from human dev, to psychology, to every other aspect of the universe (it feels that way), is it not enough that we are willing to become these social workers, and try to assist in every way possible with others and the aspects of there lives...
I just do not understand why....
Has anyone else got a different view, that might assist me in understanding...
If it were enough that you want to help people, anyone could be a social worker. Those papers give you a little more knowledge on a subject each time you write one.
It is often very useful to know some of the research when working with clients. It is much more professional to know the basics and some of the research when consulting with parents, teachers, or clients themselves, you want to come off as knowledgeable about the situation they are in. Yes, experience is important, but so is book knowledge. The two aspects together are powerful. You should pick topics for your papers that are interesting to you, that you want to know more about. When you are working, it is hard to find the time to read journal articles a lot. Hope this helps
I agree that it takes more than a desire to help to be a social worker, dr or a nurse. Research and information help inform us and help us become more skilled
Social work is a profession. Part of being a profession is that its practitioners have a certain body of knowledge that informs their practice. Also, communication skills are important in social work, including written communication.
