Hey Lashelle, dont know if I can help just started first year towards my BSW and know what its like understanding new subjects. Need to talk please do
LaShelle, The most BASIC step for analyzing social policy, is to take a step back from the words that are written in the book. Then ask yourself, WHY was this policy created? What was this policy trying to fix? (A social problem or a political problem? I mean here, was the policy put in effect to serve the consumer / public? Or was it put in to effect to serve a goal, image or political agenda?)
The next step in policy analysis, before you start writing anything down, is to ask yourself: Whats wrong with this policy? and then: Whats good about this policy? And why? (Heres a hint- the best policy I've seen written, has problems. And the worst policy I've seen, had at some basic point a good or constructive intention.(ususally) Learn to see those strengths and weaknesses. Thats a place to start.) I hope this was helpful.Good luck.
