THE NEW SOCIAL WORKER® ONLINE Discussion Forum: Social Work Student Forum: Archive through November 09, 2005
By William J. Grove on Tuesday, November 08, 2005 - 04:44 pm: Edit Post

Good grief, Sandra. Can you not find one social worker in your area? Go and MEET a social worker! We will not bite! Many of us LOVE to share (in person) our experiences and ideals. Make an effort to MEET one, rather than simply asking random people, who you will never know to be true social workers or not, to fill out a common form.
The questions you have are wonderful; worthy of deeper discussion than what we would ever write in this format. Try to make this a more personal experience, please!
I wish you well in your studies.

William,

Thank you for putting words to my rolling eyes when I read the above post. From what Sandra wrote, though, she may not plan to check back to read these comments. It looks like she may be sitting back waiting for an anonymous rescuer to send her an an email containing all the answers. Then all she has to do is cut and paste in to her report and voilą: assignment complete with minimal effort and no real learning or insight gained.

It is sad.

Yup. I can't believe that students who wish to have a job that requires interviewing skills, assessment, etc. would take such a lazy way of doing this assignment. Even if she does not return to the board, perhaps other students will read the response and begin to roll their eyes. So how is Canada doing?

Ugh, we may be facing a federal election in time for Christmas. I hate political campaigns. They are all so full of lies, etc. Broker politics is very difficult for the general populice! :-)

ditto to William and Tom. I wonder what the students who expect us to do their homework plan to do with clients...
