Hi all,

I am a Social Work student (senior year, yeah!). I would like to know, from professional Social Workers, what are the top must have books (resources) that every new Social Worker needs? Thanks!!!

I am very pleased to recommend "Gesture of Balance" by Tarthang Tulku. I have written a review on this inspirational resource on Amazon.com. For me, his guidance,, helps us strengthen and maintain a balance in our lives, our health and our relationships. My social work students and my soldiers have given this book very positive evaluations and comments.

I work in a US Army, Wounded Warrior Program and I often introduce Tarthang's words of wisdom on learning to relax and open our minds. For me, serving humanity as we do, it's good to know that I can have guidance and assistance with this remarkable teacher and healer--when I read his text, I feel that he is speaking objectively and directly, with deep knowledge, wisdom, love and truth. I have other books in my bibliography on my website.

Have a great year....

Thanks Jerry! The book sounds like an interesting read and many of the comments on Amazon were quite positive. I will have to add it to my library. Thanks again.

I've long thought that this was invaluable:

CLINICAL AND FORENSIC INTERVIEWING OF CHILDREN AND FAMILIES: Guidelines for the Mental Health, Education, Pediatric, and Child Maltreatment Fields.

Its chapter on documentation is the best I've ever seen anywhere.

The book is also full of outstanding reference tools as well. ( such as standard developmental scales & milestones being concentiently listed on the inside cover.)

Oh, and its' full of "Calvin & Hobbs " cartoons!

Thank you Gary, I will certainly check that one out. It sounds like it's both informative and animated. Thanks a bunch!
