Anti-Oppressive Practice: Anti-oppressive social work practice seeks to empower people who face oppression due to issues including, but not limited to sexual orientation, race, gender, age and disabilities. As a result, the social work relationship is one where the practitioner draws upon the lived experience of the client. Inherent power imbalances present between the practitioner and client, as well as within the client's life are examined. For further reference, you may want to search the internet, under "anti-oppressive social work practice" or other related headings.
Books you might find helpful to give an overview of want Anti-Oppressive Practice is include:
"Anti-Discriminatory Practice" - Neil Thompson
"Anti-Oppressive Practice" - Dalrymple & Burke
