In college, I was told I had to take Statistics for Social Work. This meant that I had to take several math classes to even qualify for the statistics class. In my case, I entered college after 25 years from graduating high school. (By the way, I was horrible in math in High School.) I was mortified about taking math in college. BUT, I found it not as bad as I had thought. First, most colleges give you a battery of math tests before you enter your first class schedule. If you do poorly with the test, you will be required to take some remedial math classes to develop your math skills. On top of that, most colleges have fantastic tutoral systems available to help you.
Math is very important for several reasons. Research comes quickly to mind. There are many, many other reasons but I'll let others tell you about them.
Don't sweat the math! If you are serious about your career choices, you will find a way. Your high school and college counselors will be glad to assist you.
Good Luck.
