MAJOR REGIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL SPEAKERS TO MEET AND COMPARE NOTES IN JAMAICA ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND GENDER EQUALITY
CARIBBEAN CONFERENCE ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND GENDER EQUALITY CARDED FOR MARCH 2014
Gender equality and domestic violence will be on the front burner between March 26 and 28 in Montego Bay, Jamaica. This comes with the second annual Caribbean Conference on Domestic violence and Gender Equality.
The conference will feature renowned researchers, educators and government officials from the Caribbean as well as internationally. The three day conference will explore the issue of domestic violence and the quest for gender equality and its impact on Caribbean society.
Insights from speakers like the Former Assistant to the United States President and Director of the White House Domestic Policy Council, Melody Barnes will definitely bring new perspectives to the conference and the region. Speakers from prestigious universities as UCLA, University of Michigan, University of Illinois at Chicago, University of Puerto Rico and University of Johannesburg are scheduled presenters. Joining this line up of educational excellence is our very own UWI Mona and Woman, Inc. The discussion is expected to challenge the mind-set of the region with insights into their compelling research.
Other speakers include government representatives such as, Claudia Groome-Duke, Secretary for Health and Social Services in the Tobago House of Assembly, Ann Timothé-Milfort, Chief of Staff, Cabinet du President de la République d'Haïti, Minister Sandria Falconer, Ministry of Information, Office of the Prime Minister of Jamaica and Sharon Ffolkes-Abraham, Minister of Gender.
