"Reproductive justice: the right to parent or not parent with support, dignity, and respect is at the core of social work. These works are part of a series that reflects those values," says Megan Smith.
Megan Smith is a Boston-based artist and MSW student at Simmons College. She is also the founder of the Repeal Hyde Art Project, which raises awareness about the Hyde Amendment and creates dialogue about abortion access and reproductive justice. The Hyde Amendment blocks people from using Medicaid to pay for abortions. The Project accomplishes its mission through collaborative arts and sharable graphic content. The Project is a colorful, optimistic, and interactive response to Hyde that reflects the self-determination of the people who have overcome barriers and the hope for change.
