A Letter From the Editor-Publisher PDF Print E-mail
Written by Linda Grobman, ACSW, LSW

Dear THE NEW SOCIAL WORKER ONLINE visitor:

Welcome to THE NEW SOCIAL WORKER ONLINE! I'm glad you found us. I am often asked, "What exactly is THE NEW SOCIAL WORKER® and THE NEW SOCIAL WORKER® ONLINE?" THE NEW SOCIAL WORKER began in 1994 as a magazine and is now much more. This site was developed in 1995 as an avenue to disseminate information to social workers and those interested in social work careers. As the technology grew and developed, we added interactive features to make the site a full-fledged social work community. The most popular sections of our site include our message board, job board, and our free online newsletter. I hope you will find items of interest in these and other sections of our site. Here is some additional information about what we do:

THE NEW SOCIAL WORKER

THE NEW SOCIAL WORKER®:  The Magazine for Social Work Students and Recent Graduates is a print magazine that I (Linda Grobman) began in 1994. It is published 4 times a year.

The magazine's primary focus is on career development and practical professional information for social workers and social work students. It includes articles on practice specialties, social work ethics, field placement, books, news, technology, and other topics of interest to professional social workers and social work students.

THE NEW SOCIAL WORKER ONLINE

In 1995, I started THE NEW SOCIAL WORKER ONLINE, the Web companion to THE NEW SOCIAL WORKER. THE NEW SOCIAL WORKER ONLINE (the site you are now on!) includes information for social workers worldwide on social work careers, jobs, and practice. Take a look around (and plan to stay awhile!) to discover what is here.

We have a vibrant interactive community. Visit our message board, and you will find lively discussion on a wide variety of social work topics! Go to our SocialWorkJobBank job board, and you'll find a range of current professional opportunities at all levels of practice. Subscribe to our free e-mail newsletter (see below) and you'll receive up-to-date social work news in your e-mailbox about twice a month.

THE SOCIAL WORK E-NEWS

Subscribe to our FREE e-mail newsletter, SOCIAL WORK E-NEWS. Receive social work news, links to interesting sites, job listings, and more.

Enter your e-mail address in the form to the left to subscribe. After you submit your e-mail address, you will receive a confirmation e-mail. You must click on the link in the e-mail (or copy and paste the URL into your browser, if it does not show up as a link) to confirm your subscription. Once you have clicked on the link and your browser has taken you to the confirmation page, your subscription is confirmed. You do not need to do anything else. Replying by e-mail will NOT confirm your subscription.

PRODUCTS

You can find a lot of information and interaction on our sites, free of charge. In addition, we provide information about our social work-related publications and products, making it easy for you to decide if they will be useful to you, and if so, to order  them. They include THE NEW SOCIAL WORKER magazine itself, our social work books, gift items, and electronic publications. Most of these items can be ordered from our secure online store.

ENJOY!

To sum things up, THE NEW SOCIAL WORKER is many things!

It started as a magazine, and has grown to include this Web site, our specialty sites, our free e-mail newsletter, and a vibrant interactive community of social work professionals where you can share, learn, and grow. All of this is THE NEW SOCIAL WORKER.

I hope you enjoy and learn from your visits to our site, and I invite you to become a regular and active member of our professional community. We can all benefit and learn from each other's experiences and ideas!

I welcome feedback from our site visitors. E-mail Linda Grobman with any comments or questions.

Your social work colleague,
Linda May Grobman, ACSW, LSW
