Publication AgreementThis is an agreement between White Hat Communications, publisher of the JOURNAL OF SOCIAL WORK VALUES AND ETHICS, (publisher) and _______________ (writer). Writer here assigns and grants to the Publisher All Rights to the article tentatively entitled: ________________________________________________________ These rights include but are not limited to the right to publish the article in the JOURNAL OF SOCIAL WORK VALUES AND ETHICS and other print and electronic publications of White Hat Communications, the right to grant photocopying permission to those requesting such permission for educational and other purposes, and the right to reprint the article separately or as part of a collection of related works. In the event that writer wishes to submit the article for publication elsewhere after it has appeared in JOURNAL OF SOCIAL WORK VALUES AND ETHICS, writer must obtain permission from the publisher, which permission shall not be unreasonably withheld. As a professional courtesy, the writer: - retains proprietary rights, other than copyright, such as patent rights in any procedure, process, or means of manufacture depicted in the contribution
- retains oral presentation rights, and the right to photocopy the material to be used as a handout when presenting it orally
- retains republication rights in any book written or edited by the writer him/herself or in any edited work for which the writer is the sole editor or senior editor, or teaching coursepack prepared or written by the contributor.
For these uses, no further permission is necessary in writing from White Hat Communications, and no fees will be required from the writer. White Hat Communications does require that when re-using the material, the writer: - include a standard copyright line: copyright date, publisher's name, city, state, journal and article title, issue, and page number (s)
- if reprinted electronically, there must be no charge for viewing the article.
Writer warrants that the manuscript submitted is his/her own work, that the work is not under consideration for publication elsewhere and has not been published elsewhere, that the article contains no libelous or unlawful statements and does not infringe on the civil rights of others, and that the writer is not infringing on anyone else's copyright. The writer agrees to indemnify and will hold the Publisher, the Editorial Board of The Journal of Social Work Values and Ethics (as a group and individual members thereof), Editor(s), and Guest Editor, and their respective officers, Board members and employees harmless against costs and expenses of any suit, claim, demand, or recovery based on any claim of libel, unlawfulness, or infringement of copyright or any other personal or property right upon publication of the manuscript.
