This training will assist clinicians with acquiring improved skills in behavioral interventions for tobacco use treatment. Through experiential training methods, participants will be able to demonstrate how to use a variety of behavioral interventions, from motivational interviewing to cognitive behavior therapy to mindfulness practice. The training will also practice how understanding cultural differences can improve behavioral counseling outcomes.

Prerequisites: This is an advanced course designed for behavioral health providers who already have experience providing tobacco use treatment. The course would also be ideal for those who wish to increase their knowledge about advanced behavioral health approaches for tobacco use treatment. It is not recommended for individuals who have no prior experience with behavioral health approaches treatment of tobacco use; those individuals would benefit from our full tobacco treatment specialist training program.
