A Social Worker Will Be There

Social workers are often part of what’s held dearest in the heart

When dreams go wrong and visions die, and hopes are dashed and eyes do cry…

A social worker will be there, to advocate and show they care

To right the wrongs and restore the hope, to give support and help others cope.

Our job is not an easy one, we often work from sun to sun,

Recognition is slim, rewards are few and there’s a lot of work to do.

There’s documentation and follow-through, dotting the i’s and crossing t’s, too.

No thought or idea remains unturned, because negligence is a real concern.

But nothing else can take the place, of restoring a smile to a tear-stained face

Holding a hand once scared to reach out, is what being a social worker is all about.

We stop the lies that “no one cares,” we prove it by always being there,

We help find the pieces and sort them out, we restore the courage to those that doubt.

We join clients on the journey to overcome fear, we’re a presence to those whose end-is-near.

We help those overwhelmed to know, that with a social worker… anything is possible!
