Social Work Resolutions - 2015

by

We asked The New Social Worker's readers on LinkedIn and Facebook to share their professional New Year's resolutions for 2015 with us. Below are some of the responses we received.

What are your resolutions? Leave a comment and let us know.

Besides becoming a Licensed Master Social Worker, I envision my new year being filled with opportunities for professional development in the mental health field of social work practice. My objective is to constantly attend trainings and stay up to date with new research about mental health, so I can become more competent and experienced when working with the population.

Kalisha Carrington, BSW, CASAC-t, MSW Candidate

Substance Abuse Counselor,  Mental Health Intern

My resolution is recommitting to a consistent self-care practice and creating opportunities for meaningful connection and inspiration!

Happy New Year!

Erena DiGonis, LCSW, CHC

Licensed Psychotherapist and Certified Health Coach

My social work New Year's resolutions for 2015 are to begin the Somatic Experiencing training and certification process, take on my first intern, expand my private practice to a second location, and offer groups and intensives based on The Daring Way™.

Laura J. Reagan, LCSW-C

My 2015 resolution is to graduate with my MSW degree from Florida State University in May while continuing to advocate for and offering counseling to veterans experiencing homelessness and high school students from low-income communities.

Michael Barnes, MSW Student

NASW Student Representative

Since I achieved my 2014 goal of passing my licensure exam, I figure I should keep it going. My resolution for 2015 is to become more active in the social work community by participating in more professional activities or groups, to begin training to become a certified grief counselor, and to begin a peer consultation group at work for my coworkers and I.  I actually just sent out the e-mail to my coworkers about their professional new year’s resolutions and my desire to start the peer group.

Valerie Dorsainvil, MSW

My career resolution this year is to start working on my MSW!

Brittany Blankenship, BSSW, LSW

To learn meditation, and learn to shut out excessive stress. To become a more peaceful person and practice extending peace to others, even when they are angry or lashing out at me.

Diana Milam, LGSW

My resolution is: To be open to new direction, new opportunity, and new growth. By this time next year, I will have passed my LCSW exam and will be actively laying the groundwork to one day start my very own business!

Lola Brognano, MSW, RCSWI
