What I Love About Social Work - Joy and Passion

By Sydney Wilson

The joy! The passion! Being around others who are just as devoted as you are to better our communities.

The diversity. The love. The empowerment and being able to see and feel the changes made.

The politics, the advocacy. The outreach to communities and the commitment to never giving up on someone.

The growth. The opportunities. The possibilities of change that can be made just by speaking up.

What I love about social work is the profession itself. To know so many people are dedicated to working for others. The inspiration I receive from my peers and the wide range of practices and movements we are involved in.

Sydney Wilson is a fourth year social work student at Arizona State Downtown. She is an Arizona native and is interested in doing advocacy and community outreach based social work with adolescents and teens.
