A timely contribution

David Horning's reminder of the enduring philosophical perspective and enlightened contributions of Jane Addams is of special relevance in today's world. It is unfortunate that the concept of aggression has been so misunderstood, and we have been encouraged to always replace it with a more politically correct word, assertion. The appropriate use of aggression is necessary to care for ourselves and others, and Dr. Horning's explanation of Jane Addams's term "aggressive humanism" is an essential as well as urgent reminder of this importance.
